Dear Parents,
Here at Chai we've been brainstorming how to keep our children and families involved in our Chai family. Although many of you will be abroad or out of town, we want you to stay connected.
Our summer theme here at Chai is Simcha, which means happiness. We will explore what makes us happy, how happiness feels, and what the Torah says about happiness.
We came up with an exciting project and we need your involvement!
You may have heard of the story of Flat Stanley, the boy who gets mysteriously flattened and then goes on exciting adventures that he could never have had in his unflattened state. We've changed his name to Flat Simcha, a name that is commonly given to both boys and girls. You will find Flat Simcha attached to this email. The way it works: You print out a Flat Simcha and have your child color it. Feel free to make Simcha a girl!
You take Flat Simcha with you as you do fun activities in the summer, and you photograph yourself and Flat Simcha. You can also take a picture of Flat Simcha with you when your child or family does a mitzvah: playing nicely, giving charity, visiting the Kotel, cleaning, or going to bed on time! We will be creating a bulletin board with a map of the world in our preschool with photos of the places Flat Simcha visits this summer. You can send Flat Simcha to relatives as well. We would like to expose the children to many experiences and places this summer as we travel around the world with Flat Simcha. Even if it is only to the local zoo, Flat Simcha will be sparking many interesting conversations and learning experiences for the children. We will be posting the pictures up on this blog, where children who are not here for the summer can keep in touch. Please email all photos to Yolanda, at http://us.f834.mail.yahoo.com/ym/Compose?To=admin@chaischool.com. Take care and we're looking forward to an exciting summer as we keep in touch! Esty
